Biography

Amanda was born in Lincolnshire in 1969, she grew up with three siblings and her mother (who was/is a nurse) and father (who was/is a vicar). Her father, being a vicar decided to move the family to Leicestershire for work (he had obtained a parish there).

Amanda had always been shy, unconfident and contious which through her very successful acting career has noticed her own vulnerability, shyness, unconfidence and contiousness. Just 6 years old she played a flower in a play based on an Oscar Wilde Novel, for which she enjoyed the creativity and invention of story, as well as the protective coat of playing someone else.

When her parents moved to Leicestershire for work, Amanda was educated at Beauchamp College in Oadby where she joined a youth theatre (with a friend)
and was in a production there called Sweet Charity, of which she played the main role, Charity. Amanda later attended  King's School Ottery St Mary when her family had to move again to Exeter, Devon.

Amanda being a free-lance actress is now in various theatre productions and occasionally takes up a role in television. She deeply prefers performing in theatre because of the live interaction with the audience, a wider range of characters and alot more time for rehearsals.

Although Amanda being excellent at portraying an emotionally unstable wife of a cheating love-rat Rob Minter (played by Stuart Laing) with a career as a Doctor in EastEnders of which she played Dr. May Wright aka 'Mad' May, she doesn't want to be type-cast for psycho roles.

Amanda is very good friends with Kara Tointon (who played EastEnders nemesis Dawn Swann), they try to meet up as much as they can out of work. Kara has attended some of Amanda's productions, as has Jo Joyner (who currently plays Tanya Branning in EastEnders) and Joe Swash (Kara's former partener and who played Mickey Miller in EastEnders)

Amanda currently has no children as she has never felt broody and also has no other-half...yet.

Amanda currently lives in a plush flat in Hackney, Greater London with her ex-greyhound racing dog, 'Ballymac' Ron (aka '40mph couch potatoe' as she calls him), whom she adopted in 2007 after receiving a pamphlet through her door.
